We're welcoming some of the hottest bands around to the mountains in April...

Snowbombing has always been a festival built on a foundation of bands, DJs, performers and entertainers from a plethora of various musical genres and stylings, all sitting comfortably side by side in the picturesque and preposterous climate that exists only in Mayrhofen for one week each year. Techno DJs rub shoulders with the brass section on an Oompah band in pubs, electro acts swap places with Dub-Ska outfits on the Street Party stage, and pretensions and musical snobbery flys out the window (or off the mountain) in one wild cavalcade of fun and frolics, that creates the famously infectious spirit of lighthearted mischief that makes Snowbombing, er, Snowbombing. And boy, we think we've pushed the boat out even further with 2017's marvellous musical medley of a lineup!

After the triumphant finale of SB16, we sent out our post-event questionnaire form and waited eagerly for the results. Amongst the praising, platitudes (and occasional diatribes), we found that a large portion of 'bombers wanted more live antics, more bands, more unpredictable fun... And we concurred! 2017 sees a gaggle of awesome indie bands heading for the 'hof for the very first time, such as Courteeners. An act we've been after for yonks, we're stoked to have finally secured their services for Snowbombing, and the legendary Manchester rockers are being joined by another gaggle of Northern upstarts, in the shape of Blossoms.

The swoonsome quartet from Stockport have enjoyed one hell of a year, growing from pub toilet circuits to festival mainstages and a remarkable number 1 debut album. Now heading to the 'hof for the first time ever, we're as excited about these lads' arrival as anyone else on the bill...

The snapping, snarling, viciously fun Slaves are also heading for Snowbombing, in what is their debut mission to the mountains. After a hectic two years that has seen them cause carnage at awards do's, travel the world and even cover a Skepta songwe've snapped them up to bring some of that anarchic energy to an alpine setting. Seriously, not to be missed...

So a hearty dollop of glorious stadium indie is heading for the 'hof this April, and we haven't touched on our army of live Hip Hop, Grime and bass acts also confirmed for the greatest festival on snow. We'll be back shortly with another feature on one of the myriad other genres bursting out of Snowbombing 2017... It's gonna be one hell of a ride!
