There’s a valid, medically proven (probably) ailment that affects all Snowbombers after the final track has been played, the final jagër downed and the bunting has been tugged down, signalling the end of Snowbombing for another year. It’s called Post Mayrhofen Syndrome (or PMS for short) and the common symptoms are walking from petrol garage to petrol garage trying to find Paprika crisps, attempting crude homemade Pork Rolls, buying the entire back catalogue of The Prodigy and booking sessions in at the Milton Keynes Snowdome (it’s not the same, is it…).

However, before you circle April 2017 in your calendar and starting adding up the days before you can return to the ‘hof, sate yourself below on some of the finest moments (in no particular order) from the greatest edition of Snowbombing yet. Have a gander and let us know your favourite moments on our Facebook and Twitter pages...

1. Wilkinson in Hans the Butcher

With many ‘bombers just arriving into the ‘hof and with new guests still getting their bearings, Monday geared into action early doors as DnB supremo Wilkinson popped up inside everyones favourite meat emporium, Hans the Butcher, for a mid afternoon rave up that set the tone for the week in seriously meaty style. Wilko was even joined by the big man himself at the finale for an emotional embrace… Hans in the air!

2. Craig David in the Racket Club

Wow… It definitely took us more than Seven Days to get over that one. The returning hero of UK Garage, Mr. Craig David himself arrived in Mayrhofen to a heroes reception and had the unenviable task of taking to the Racket Club stage after Shy FX, Idris Elba and Skepta had done their best to obliterate the foundations of our subterranean rave mecca. From a medley of his very greatest hits to a Justin Bieber tribute that sent the crowd into party ecstasy, it was simply a joyous celebration of music that brought grins out from ear to ear. For anyone that missed it, you’ll just have to Fill Them In as best you can…

3. Eddie the Eagle

Eddie’s been a regular at Snowbombing for years now, taking lessons on the piste and generally being a fantastically friendly presence across the festival. However with the global release of his critically acclaimed new feature film “Eddie the Eagle”, Great Britain’s most celebrated ski jumper returned to the ‘hof for a q&a, a knees up and the surreal sight of hundreds of ‘bombers wearing his face. Cheers Eddie...

4. The Mad Mission to the Mountains arrival

On a gorgeously sunny spring afternoon in the Zillertal Valley, The Mad Max inspired Mad Mission to the Mountains rolled into town to the biggest cheers heard in Mayrhofen since the naked toboggan championships, as the revellers cruised their vehicles in one breathless procession that summarised everything great about Snowbombing. Big, bold, daft, hilarious and downright fun… And all set to a DnB and Jungle soundtrack. What more do you want??

5. Bastille’s Forest Party

Our first Forest Party of the week saw indie darlings Bastille make their Snowbombing debut on our magical wooden stage amongst the pines. And what a freaking show it was. After stirling warm up sets from Bondax and very special guest Norman Jay MBE, Bastille took to the stage and simply set the forest alight with their incredible back catalogue...

6. Jamie Jones’ Secret Set for DiscoFunk in Haus

Our alpine disco den, The Haus saw a rather special guest pop up on Tuesday evening, as the Paradise Records head honcho and all round House superstar stepped onto stage to the suprised delight of every raver inside the venue. One tweet and a text out later and the high st of Mayrhofen was a stampede of partyers desperate to see this über one off set. Danke, Jamie!

Once again, a massive biggups is due to the DiscoFunk crew, who provided the awesome residents Siente, Itchy Rich and The London Disco Society to the Three Haus and helped us snag Jamie for this super secret appearance. Cheers lads...

7. Jungle at the Groove is in the ‘hof Street Party

Groove is in the ‘hof! Our annual street party is Europe’s biggest outdoor fancy dress event, where legions of ‘bombers gather together in the centre of Mayrhofen for one sartorially silly showdown. 2016 was a contender for the very best one ever, as thousands of 70’s inspired groovers descended on our open air stage for a bash featuring The Cuban Brothers, DJ Barely Legal, Groove Armada and one hell of a live show from Jungle...

Where it all happened

8. Skepta in The Racket Club

AND IT’S SHUTDOWN. Boy Better Know’s Skepta was last at Snowbombing in 2010, and both him and us have changed a fair bit since then it’s fair to say… The globe conquering king of Grime music descended on the ‘hof for a feature length hour set of old classics and new cuts from his brand new album “Konichiwa”. The boy from Tottenham has certainly done good…

9. Idris x Mistajam x Chris Lorenzo x Marc Roberts b2b on The Mountain...

The big man ‘dris was desperate for another stab at Snowbombing and the Thursday of SB16 saw him take to the mountain for an avalanche inducing soundclash against Mistajam, Chris Lorenzo, Justin Martin & Marc Roberts. From Disco, House, Balearic Beat and Soul and even a bit of Grime, this was one for the history books. 10. The Prodigy return to The Forest...

The Prodigy returned to their home from home Mayrhofen to complete a simply stunning trio of shows on our wooden stage in the middle of the Waldenplatz Forest. With a beefed up sound and lighting production and a set of new songs to scatter amongst the fevered anthems, this was by far their best appearance at Snowbombing, as an urgent crowd pushed the show into another dimension. On the final night of Snowbombing 2016 this was a send-off to see all send-offs…. Just too good.
